SOME AMAZING THINGS
in our lives & yours
The two of us have had many adventures in our short lives, but none has compared to our adventure of marriage!
Besides working with our amazing couples, we also love our hometown of Greenville, SC, educating other photographers, and finding new adventures!

Well friends, this August was JP’s third and last week of classes in Santa Cruz, CA for the Circe Institute. This was also our last big trip before baby Rainsford comes in for landing. So this year we decided to go big (because just going back home would be boring)! After wrapping up classes in CA, we flew to Denver and started the flat, long drive across expansive Wyoming to Yellowstone National Park.
After camping in Yosemite last August we fell more deeply in love with our National Parks than ever. These public lands are our inheritance (yours and mine!) and they are awe inspiring – truly one of America’s best ideas.
Last year, we told you all about how to pack and what to wear for a camping trip to a national park, if you need a little refresher, check out the two-part post here! This time, we’re going to pick up right where we left off and get down to one of my personally favorite topics: eating!(Can I get an amen?) We’re going to get from coffee to dessert, with everything in between. Buckle up y’all!
Goodness, gracious! Hello, there blog. It’s been a while! With all of our spring & now summer weddings, we are just getting back into a routine of a blogging schedule. Many adorable engagement & wedding blog posts coming soon!
Until then, we wanted to share a few photos of our time in Washington, D.C.! We visited over Memorial Day weekend after photographing Jonah & Gabby’s wedding (photos coming soon!). Our dear friends, Beth & Chris, live right downtown, so we had a front row seat to our Nation’s Capital for 48 hours. It’s been too long since we took a long weekend for ourselves & explored a new place – we had such a great time! We both are avid history buffs & especially after listening to the podcast, Presidential last summer, we were SO ready to take on this historic city!
The autumn weather is upon us & we are excited about camping this fall! We got a taste of the cool weather when we were visiting Yosemite this August. When we camped in the Tuolumne Meadows, the temperatures dropped down into the 30’s at night! But thankfully, we were prepared with our warm gear. We snuggled into our base layers & cozied up next to our camp fire. To read more about how we packed for Yosemite, check out our last blog post here!
Now that we have you all set on how to pack & what clothes will be best for your adventure, let’s talk about how to set up camp & get a good night’s rest. Because without proper rest, how will you enjoy your next day in the wilderness?
As many of you have probably noticed, we love the woods! But the woods are wild (as they should be!), and you have to be prepared. Over the last five years of taking to the woods, we have learned a lot about what we do and don’t need to be prepared. We’ve figured this out with some help from our friends, but mostly by trial and error. Several sleepless nights, frigid mornings, and achy hips later we’re ready to share everything we’ve learned with you!!!
As we walked off of the plane in San Francisco, the cool sea air washed over us! “We are here!” we both shouted! Once we grabbed our bags & we headed to the nearest lunch spot we could find to enjoy a bowl of clam chowder soup with a side of sour dough bread (one of our favorite San Francisco meals!). After our bellies were full, we hit the road & drove to our first California destination: The Muir Woods National Monument!
For almost two years I have been running with Brian, Sims, and Drew. These men coached me from barely running six miles to my first marathon last October. During that marathon they took turns pacing me, then, before the final four miles Drew prayed for me and with a literal shove, let me go: “Keep running strong brother! You’re almost there!” I finished in the top ten – better than I had thought possible. Moreover, I couldn’t believe the level of encouragement, coaching, and support these men had freely and eagerly given. During one of our early morning runs Brian mentioned the Smoky Mountain Relay.
