Chattanooga, TN Wedding Photographer |Kruesi & Ethan

Going to Lookout Mountain is always like going home. It’s the place where we met, fell in love, & formed countless meaningful relationships. Our friendship with the Brock family was one of these, & getting to celebrate Kruesi & Ethan’s new adventure with a joyful backyard wedding made for the sweetest homecoming.

That morning, the weather forecast predicted a 100% chance of rain — all. day. long. The sky was moody, & the heavy rainfall even washed out the ceremony aisle initially. Inside, at a friend’s house, Kruesi & her bridesmaids giggled. Their calmness & joy was a mile-wide buffer between them & the menacing clouds; the smell of fresh pink & white roses arranged by her bridesmaids & her grandmother, Dottie, an antidote to any kind of temporary disappointment. Rain or shine, she & Ethan would be married.

And the sun did shine. On the most perfectly cool, rainless afternoon, & in her childhood backyard, Kruesi walked down the aisle to marry Ethan. Ethan’s grandfather married them at the altar that Kru, Kruesi’s dad, built out of cedar to honor his daughter, Cedar Kruesi Brock. Kruesi, her bridesmaids, & even her mom, walked down the aisle barefoot. Ethan & Kruesi sealed the deal with a hearty “I do!”

Everything about their reception pulsed with life & joy.  Both Kruesi & Ethan’s parents toasted & publicly blessed their children as their guests shouted, “Amen!” in boisterous agreement. Guests took turns dancing on a “dancing board,” a small wooden dance floor where individuals would come up for a minute or two & dance in the middle, & then tag the next person to jump in. It all felt like a scene from a Jane Austen novel- simple, yet lacking nothing; heartfelt & familial; & wildly–exceedingly!–joyful.

Kruesi & Ethan, thank you for the honor of coming alongside you to witness some of the most sacred moments of your life. To know you two is to love you! We are in awe of the Lord’s goodness to His children. As we watched you two become one, we witnessed the beautiful legacy of all that has come before you, & we love you so much. Thank you for the joy of documenting your beautiful wedding day! Love, The Rainsfords
