On a girls’ weekend trip to New York City, Kate & her friends stopped in McSorely’s Ale House, one of the oldest bars in the East Village. Billy, who lived in Manhattan, also happened to be there that evening. Their chance meeting spilled into an evening of conversation, karaoke, & an especially late night dinner. January of this year, the two got married. 

The sun drenched the blustery, blue winter sky the day of their wedding, & an excitement was in the air. Wielding mascara wands & curling irons, Cindy McGrath helped Kate & her girls get ready in a cottage behind the Greenville Country Club. Everyone’s giddiness was impossible to contain. When Kate finally walked into the room full of bridesmaids with her dress on for the first time, everyone erupted with shouts of joy! She was stunning. In tribute to her family, Kate wore her great grandmother’s ring & a necklace made from Billy’s grandmother’s diamond ring. Her wedding bands also incorporated diamonds handed down from her mother.

Kate glided over to see Billy carrying an elaborately heavy bouquet of bluebells, white roses, anemones, berries. Billy was close to bursting from anticipation. As he turned to see his bride, he nearly keeled over at the joy of it all. Billy couldn’t get over how beautiful Kate looked, & Kate’s refrain was “You are SO handsome!”

Their ceremony was beautiful & Christ-centered, & the party afterward was the perfect garnish on top! Good food & drinks, & lots of dancing with friends & family lasted late into the night. We suspect the exciting energy we felt at their reception was the same electricity they first felt in the City of Dreams.
