We arrive at most of life’s biggest moments not through the fast lane, but through a winding, often slow, & even inefficient journey. We learn to take its turns with care, occasionally brush up against its barriers, & continue forward, palms open. Years of patience & prayers culminated in the most glorious celebration of marriage for our friends Leah & Pat, who fittingly joined together as one in the whimsical gardens of Meadowlark 1939! This historic southern home is flanked by a greenhouse, rolling fields, & English-inspired gardens. Ivy spills over every wall & surface. It’s absolutely breathtaking!!
Leah & Pat took their time the day of their wedding. The evening before, Leah & her girls spent the night in the main house; then drew out the following morning grazing over coffee & breakfast in the garden. The guys gathered & dressed in the old gardener’s house.
Leah & Pat chose to wait to see one another when Leah walked down the aisle during the ceremony, which afforded them extra time with their friends & family beforehand. Leah’s mama cried as she zipped up her daughter’s dress in the library, & tears ran down her dad’s face as he saw his girl for the first time as a bride. Meanwhile in the gardener’s house, Pat gave each of his groomsmen his thoughtful gift – a small multi-tool representing the varied ways they had each worked in his life. Then, just before the ceremony, Pat & Leah’s closest friends & family gathered in prayer over them individually.
Finally at the ceremony, & with a beaming smile, Pat saw his bride as she walked across the garden to meet him. Under a spreading oak, Leah & Pat began their marriage by serving each other the bread & wine, a witness to the Lord’s lasting faithfulness!
Throughout their entire reception, the dance floor stayed packed! But after they cut the cake together Leah pulled out her own surprise – a single cupcake & candle. “Happy Birthday Pat!” everyone cheered! Truly a celebration of celebrations!
Leah & Pat, the OLD is gone & the NEW has come! Together you are a new creation in Christ! It was the sweetest privilege to stand by your sides & watch the two of you pledge your lives & love to one another. We love you both!! Love, The Rainsfords
